DIY vs Professional Liquor Redline Plans in Victoria

Liquor Control Victoria will accept a red-line plan that's neat, accurate and complete, including a careful hand drawing. So when is DIY enough, and when does a professional CAD redline save the week?

When DIY is fine

• Single-room bottle shop or simple café
• You already have a scaled floor plan and only need a red boundary, m² and labels
• You're comfortable with north point, street names and fixture callouts
• Lodgement isn't tomorrow morning

Follow the official checklist on vic.gov.au — red line plans. If anything is missing, LCV can ask you to resubmit.

When DIY usually backfires

• Outdoor dining with barriers or ropes that need written boundary notes
• Multi-level venues or split licensed areas
• Old scanned plans that aren't to scale
• Your licensing lawyer or consultant wants DWG + PDF
• You're varying an existing red line and the old file is a blurry JPEG
